The Black Moss
2006
Touring Exhibition
Originally commissioned by Ikon Gallery and featuring new commissions for touring venues: Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridgeshire; The Model, Sligo; FACT, Liverpool; and Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea.
‘The Black Moss’ featured new works alongside a selection of earlier works:
‘I’m Going to Antler You’ was created with two groups of young people. Each group worked with Juneau Projects to create the songs, outfits and promo photos for two fictitious bands.
‘Beneath the Floorboards of the Forest, Empty Space’ featured a series of ‘pods’ where one could sit and play a text-based computer game written by Juneau Projects. The game’s narrative was set in the locations at which the piece was shown, a new level being added for each new venue.
‘Instincts are misleading, you shouldn’t think what you’re feeling’ was an interactive installation created for FACT. The piece featured various natural materials from which visitors could assemble models of animals to be added to an owl-shaped wooden shrine.
‘Skull Pigeons Await’ was a new installation and performance for The Model, Sligo. It featured a set of acoustic songs alongside a series of posterworks. A version of Juneau Records was also created for Sligo, including the project ‘The Saddest Song in Sligo’.
